Hologic's NovaSure procedure passes two million patient uses

Hologic has announced that its NovaSure global endometrial ablation system has been used by more than two million women since its launch.

The minimally invasive NovaSure system, which addresses quality of life-restricting menstrual periods, passed this significant milestone after the procedure was carried out for the two millionth time at King's Mill Hospital in Nottinghamshire.

NovaSure requires no incisions, can be performed in an outpatient setting and typically allows patients to return to their normal schedules within a day. It  is also extremely fast, with an average ablation time of 90 seconds and maximum ablation time of two minutes.

Clinical studies have shown that patient satisfaction with NovaSure was significantly higher than with other global endometrial ablation devices.

Carter Houghton, Hologic's senior vice-president and general manager for gynaecology surgical solutions, said: "NovaSure is the global market leader in endometrial ablation because it offers women a safe, effective and quick solution to excessive menstrual bleeding that does not require major surgery and allows them to return to their normal routines quickly."

This weekend, the firm will attend the annual meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in Chicago, where it will be showcasing its latest range of product innovations.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801714459-ADNFCR
